Resource #3: Your First Week With Baby: A 7-Day Survival Guide | Fit Pregnancy and Baby
I love this article from Fit Pregnancy that goes through the ups and downs and what to expect from Day 1 to Day 7 with your newborn. The author covers recovering from birth, newborn sleep deprivation, jaundice, and other topics around newborn care during the first week.
Great reading when you’re 40 weeks and past your due date, if you haven’t read it yet.
Resource #4: 17 Tips for the First Weeks with a Newborn [From the Mouths of Moms] | B-Inspired Mama
This author doesn’t just talk about how to take care of your newborn during the first week, she also suggests some great advice on SURVIVING the newborn stage.
Advice like:
Don’t do housework.
Order take out.
When they say sleep when the baby sleeps, it’s not always easy. But I definitely advise the best way to take care of your newborn and yourself during the first week is to take it easy. Give yourself a break and let a few things go. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
No one should expect anything from you during the first few weeks other than taking care of yourself and little one!

Resource #5: Guide to Your Baby’s First Week | Very Well Family
My favorite part of this article are the Newborn Week One Care Tips. But the author also discusses tips for breastfeeding the first week, how to baby proof your home, where you should put your baby to sleep, as well as developmental milestones for the first week.
This article might be perfect to read in the hospital as a refresher after you’ve had your baby. You know, when you’re not quite sleep deprived yet because it’s just the first night, and you’re wide awake after a 3 a. m. feeding. That’s when I’m talking about!
Resource #6: What to Expect the First Few Weeks at Home (Schedule Included) | The Best of the Middle
What I like about this blog post is it includes a 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. newborn schedule. The schedule includes a lot of eating, sleeping and pooping of course. But, I like that it gives you an idea of what a day to day schedule with a newborn really looks like.
With Little Three only two weeks old right now, I am definitely on the eat/sleep/poop schedule. It seems like he is constantly eating! And when he’s sleeping the other two are eating. But, I wouldn’t really have it any other way!
Resource #7: Breastfeeding Your Newborn: Your Guide to the first 7 days of nursing | Mother.ly
A good newborn care survival guide for the first week wouldn’t exist without a blog post about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding tips for the first week are crucial. Your body is going through the most changes during the first week. From the colostrum to your milk coming in to the engorgement – knowing what to expect and what are common MYTHS can help establish breastfeeding success from the beginning.
I also like the article because it includes a helpful video about the benefits of skin-to-skin right after birth!
I hope all these tips for new mommies help you out during the first week! Share your favorites below.
